Garden Walk July 18

Garden Walk

Approximately 200 people attended the Garden Walk. Although the day was hot, it did not hinder many from venturing out and seeing all the beautiful gardens.

A BIG thank you to all of the homeowners this year. Craig & Jean Wehr 109 Gates Cove, Andrew & Michelle Fox 1023 North Main; Kent & Shelley Johnson 216 East 17th Street; Mark & Lori Shanyfelt 702 Old Brick Road; Rick & Patty Davis 1410 Cherry Lane, Chris & Terri Straw 1501 North Dewey and the Eckhart Public Library Park 603 South Van Buren Street.

Kent & Shelley Johnson started the Garden Walk in 2000 when they were at DeKalb High School. The tradition continues now with Excelsior Arts Academy & Youth Theater. On July 18th, 6 wonderful Auburn gardens will be open to the public to view from 10 am until 4 pm. This is a great time to gather garden ideas, see how others use space and color to add garden impact and to spend some time just smelling the roses (literally).

Tickets are $5 in advance, $6 day of the walk and are available at Lynmarees, Carbaugh Jewelers and Littlejohn Auctions all in Downtown Auburn.

The 2020 Garden Walk is sponsored by The Garden Gate Greenhouse and Nursery in Auburn.

That evening at 8 pm, Excelsior will host a Sunset Garden Party in the garden of Kent & Shelley. This is a wonderful time to relax, have a glass of wine and share the events of the day preparing to celebrate the sunset (just like they do in Key West). The Sunset Garden Party is $20 and limited to the first 40 people. Wine, snacks and entertainment will be provided.

The homes this year are – Craig & Jean Wehr 109 Gates Cove, Andrew & Michelle Fox 1023 North Main; Kent & Shelley Johnson 216 East 17th Street; Mark & Lori Shanyfelt 702 Old Brick Road; Rick & Patty Davis 1410 Cherry Lane, Chris & Terri Straw 1501 North Dewey and the Eckhart Public Library Park 603 South Van Buren Street.
